Varsity Hockey Battles Back against Cardigan, Nets Away Win

CANAAN, NH – February 11, 2024 – Varsity Hockey took on the Cardigan Cougars on Cardigan’s home ice and came from behind to earn a satisfying overtime win.

 

The teams battled hard all game before Cardigan went up by one on a power play goal late in the second period. But Eaglebrook pushed back in the third period, and Joe S. ’24 evened the score by finding the back of Cardigan’s net with 1:50 left in regulation.

 

In overtime, Cardigan secured an early power play advantage and appeared to be on the cusp of victory before netminder Drake E. ’24 made a breathtaking save. Soon after, Grayson S. ’24 drew a penalty that switched the on-ice advantage to the Eagles.

 

During the ensuing Eaglebrook power play, Dylan P. ’24 secured possession of the puck in Cardigan’s offensive zone and quickly found Evan W. ’24, who walked the blue line before scoring easily thanks to a well-executed screen of the Cougar’s goalie by Nico P. ‘24. 

 

It was an exciting game from start to finish and a victory that was earned with hard work from the whole team.
