Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Eaglebrook Water Polo team earned their first win of the season with an 11-8 defeat of Suffield Academy on Wednesday. The boys had just lost to the same Suffield squad four days ago 6-16 so it was a great turnaround!
Coach Yarworth shortened the playing rotation and not as many people played in the game, but it was the contribution of every team member in Monday's and Tuesday's practices that led to the win! The Eagles came out firing in the first quarter, creating many scoring opportunities, and jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Two-meter man DD C. '23 found the back of the net to open the scoring and Andy S. '22 and Anderson D. '23 also scored. The team played tremendous defense and shut off the Suffield counterattack as they traded scores to maintain their three goal lead 7-4 at the half. DD and Andy scored early in the third quarter to extend the lead to 9-4 and Eaglebrook played strong defense to close out the game in the 4th quarter with DD adding two more markers. Strong up and down the pool play by Winnie W. '22, Bodie L. '24, Jeffrey L. '23, and Myles G. '23 allowed the offense and defense to follow game plan to result in the team effort. Goaltender Ben L. '24 showed his marked improvement as he went the distance with many great saves and outlet passes. Next up for Eaglebrook is a match-up with Deerfield Academy on Saturday.
