Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Out of the gate Christian Redemption seemed off their game. Perhaps it was the late start, the unseasonably warm temperatures, or some bad shellfish. Eaglebrook jumped to an early lead, winning some key steals for scores. DD C. terrorized opposing ball handlers, forcing more than one to cough up a turnover. Guards Bill V., Kaden S., and Bim V. kept the pressure on as well, threatening jumpers on the outside or zippy drives to the basket. The visitors were in dire straits.
The knockout blow did not arrive, however -- at least not in the first half. Relying on their bigs, Christian Redemption muscled their way back, and the game became a tense back-and-forth affair. Eaglebrook redoubled its efforts on defense with the help of bigs Sean P., Alex C., Matt F., Basil H., and center Paul D. A pair of tall and fast forwards on Christian Redemption valiantly kept their team competitive. It truly took a tenacious effort, like the swarming defense of Will L. and Jeffery L., to keep the visitors at a distance.
The game was tied up at 44 seconds to go. Eaglebrook gained possession, brought it up the floor, and pulled ahead by two points on the strength of a Paul D. hustle play beneath the basket. The first game and first win of the season for Thirds basketball, 29-27.
