The Eagles welcomed Albany Academy to Alfond Arena during the 96th Winter Carnival Weekend. It didn’t take long for the Eagles to get on the board, as they were able to capitalize on a power play opportunity. While on the man advantage, a fortunate bounce went the Eagles way, as Bauer Swift tried to feed Jacob Trowt in the slot, but the pass got re-directed into the back of the net to put the boys up 1-0 early. Later on, the visitors tied the game at 1 midway through the period, but with a minute remaining, Seamus Cummings ripped home a pass from Hans Forselius to regain the lead at 2-1. At the 9-minute mark in the second period, Pierce Patterson gathered a puck at the offensive blue line and sent a heads up shot-pass off of Mac Elliott’s stick to make it 3-1. The visitors answered back to make it 3-2. However, as the period wore on, Benito Calvanese made a great read to move the puck indirectly alongside the bench-side board to Jordan Nelson who gained the zone, made a quick cutback move and fired a shot above the goalie's glove hand. Albany would capitalize one more time with less than a minute left in the period, but the score favored the Eagles up 4-3 heading into the second intermission. As the third period opened, the visitors were rewarded a penalty shot, but Kekua Katz stonewalled the chance to maintain the one-goal lead. Albany Academy didn’t go away, as they fought back and tied it up at 4. Momentum started to swing in the Eagles direction and eventually the Seamus Cummings and Hans Forselius connection continued, putting the Eagles up 5-4. Quickly after, Ben Scully buried home the second chance opportunity off of a beautiful rush by Nils Forselius to make it 6-4. AJ Finta started the game in net, giving the Eagles a much-needed defensive effort, while Kekua Katz closed to secure the victory. Jack Bradway and Giovanni Grassi played a solid game defensively to contribute to the win as well. The Eagles with a return to action on Wednesday afternoon as they host the Williston Northampton JV.
