Eaglebrook competed against a formidable Connecticut Chiefs team on Friday, December 8. The visitors were quick to get on the board first, but the Eagles answered right back with a nice power play goal, as Michael Penna found Bauer Swift in the seam that ripped the equalizer. The game remained tied at 1 through 15 minutes of play, despite the end-to-end action. Throughout the second frame, both teams saw many quality chances, but strong goaltender play stymied the scoring. The Chiefs got one more tally with a little over two minutes left to play in the period, but got called for a penalty soon after. With 2 seconds left on the clock, Hans Forselius opportunistically pounced on a low pad save that was kicked out from a Pierce Patterson shot to notch the game at 2. In the final 15 minutes, AJ Finta came up big with some crucial saves down the stretch, which helped give the Eagles a much-needed boost. Continuing their success on special teams, the boys displayed great poise, eventually setting up a beautiful tic-tac-toe goal from Pierce Patterson to Hans Forselius to Seamus Cummings for the eventual game winner. Late in the game, Michael Penna showed great determination to wave the icing call, which later led to Peirce Patterson sealing the victory with an empty net goal to make it 4-2. The Eagles made the most of their power play opportunities converting 3 of 5 tallies on the man advantage, but will need to generate more even strength opportunities as they head into their next matchup on Sunday against the Middlesex Bears.
