Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Eagles got back into action as they hosted the crosstown Deerfield Academy JV team on Wednesday, December 6. Just like NMH’s roster, the Big Green featured four Eaglebrook alumni and posed a strong matchup for the Eagles In the opening minutes, the visitors wasted no time getting on the board first, as they gained the zone and sent a unmarked backdoor pass into the back of the net. However, the Eagles quickly turned the page and answered with a nifty goal of their own, as Nils Forselius showed great poise around the crease and buried home a nice shot beyond the sprawling goalie to make it 1-1. The game continued back and forth for the remainder of the period, but the score remained tied heading into the second period. The Big Green would eventually find another seam within the Eagles defense and score a nice goal from the slot to make it 2-1. With some undisciplined play by the opposition, the Eagles found themselves on the power play and buried the equalizer off of Pierce Patterson’s shot from the point thanks to Seamus Cummings re-direction. The score stood tied at 2 heading into the third period of play, but the Eagles were determined to continue their strong play. With solid goaltending by Matthew Katz, the Eagles continued to generate great offensive pressure led by Ben Scully, Nils Forselius, and Benito Calvanese and were rewarded the next three unanswered goals. Giovanni Grassi and Bauer Swift made some pivotal defensive plays down the stretch to help secure the 5-2 victory. It was a team effort that got the job done and the boys hope to carry that through to their next contest on Friday night as they host the Connecticut Chiefs.
