Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The team hosted NMH’s JV hockey team, which featured 4 Eaglebrook alumni on Saturday, December 2. Despite the quick turnaround from the prior night's game, the Eagles came out focused and ready to set the tone. They answered with some nifty puck movement and great unselfish play, going up 3-0 early. However, the visitors were able to get one on the board to cut their deficit 3-1 before heading off for an ice cut. The Hoggers soon took advantage of costly turnovers and a poor line change to score the next 4 goals. Despite these setbacks, the Eagles dug deep and answered with two of their own tallies to notch the game at 5. The first came off of a timely shot from the point that found the back of the net off of a deflection and the second came from a beautiful 2-on-1 rush initiated by a great heads up transition play in the defensive zone. As time wound down, the visitors were able to get beyond the Eagles’ backline for one more quick strike with 30 seconds left to pull off the victory. Despite a couple of key injuries and controlling much of the play, the boys will need to put forth a more sustained effort over 45 minutes going forward to close out teams. The boys will have a couple of days to regroup before hosting three contests before heading off for winter recess.
