Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. The Eagles traveled down to Westminster to take on a tough Martlet JV team on December 1. The Eagles endured some chippy play early on, which put them on the man advantage for much of the period. Although the Eagles saw a few chances, they couldn’t break through the opposition’s defensive line. After a scoreless first period, the hosts were able to capitalize on a defensive zone turnover and go up 1-0. The Eagles quickly answered back with a beautifully placed bar down shot to tied the game at 1 apiece. Throughout the period, the Martlets were able to generate heavy traffic in front of the Eagles net and force the Eagles to become a little bit disorganized in the defensive zone. As a result, the opposition scored the next 4 goals to increase the deficit. The Eagles never gave up, as they added another well-placed tally to close things out 5-2. Eaglebrook had more than a handful of high percentage offensive opportunities that they were unable to bury throughout the game. A few bounces going in their favor would have made for a different game, but they should be proud of their ability to never back down, despite going against a physically mature opponent. They will look to quickly rebound from this setback as they host another formidable opponent in NMH on December 2.
