Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Eaglebrook Eagles hosted the Ferroni Hockey Academy for a joint practice followed by a scrimmage on the last Saturday of Thanksgiving break. Both teams showed great camaraderie and effort during the practice, which served as a nice stepping stone for the ensuing scrimmage. The Eagles displayed nice puck movement and solid pace of play throughout the contest, as all players saw an ample amount of ice time. As a result, Eaglebrook saw much success, tallying many offensive contributions across the board. Following the scrimmage, both teams took part in a joint team dinner in Mayer House and headed down to the UMASS v. Quinnipiac hockey game. Before the game, the boys took part in a meet and greet with the UMASS team, while also getting a chance to see the amazing facilities at the university.
The following day, the Springfield Rifles and South Shore Kings joined Eaglebrook and Ferroni in a Beanpot-style jamboree. In the first game, Eaglebrook played a strong game against the Rifles. Strong transition play and aggressive forechecking led to many offensive chances on the day for the Eagles. The boys were also backstopped with some key saves as well, which helped solidify a 3-0 victory. In the second game, the Kings would prevail against Ferroni to faceoff against the Eagles to cap off the weekend. Despite the Eagles best efforts in the opening 30 minutes, the Kings capitalized on a breakaway opportunity and a re-direction goal to go up 2-0. The Eagles would eventually cut that lead in half, but couldn’t solve the opposition’s outstanding goaltender play. Despite the limited amount of practice time as a team, Eaglebrook has a lot to be proud of and will continue to build upon this great weekend of hockey heading into the 2017-2018 season.
