Gates Quad Dedication

The Eaglebrook community gathered on Sunday, May 14 to dedicate the new Gates Quad in the center of campus. Because of the construction of the Edward P. Evans Academic Center, the area between the classroom buildings was reconfigured to form a more traditional campus quad. Members of the Gates family, Mr. John S. Gates Jr., Weezie Gates, and Thomas Gates ’14, who donated the funds to build the quad, were on campus for the dedication.

Headmaster Andrew Chase ’73 said the following during the ceremony “This beautiful quad – graced with native trees and flowers  – brings students each day into the beauty of nature as they move from dorms to meals to classes.  Today we gather to thank the Gates family - father, John and mother Weezie -wonderful parents - and their sons – Fordy and Tommy, Eaglebrook students who were into everything – sports, classes, and friends – the sort of boys that teachers spoke of as ‘warm and welcoming  …  open and friendly.’  This close and caring family has given to Eaglebrook this beautiful space that each day brings the Eaglebrook family closer together.”

Thank you to the entire Gates family, John, Weezie, Edward, Fordy ’05, and Tommy ’14 for their commitment to Eaglebrook. See photos from the dedication here. Watch the dedication ceremony here. Check out a time lapsed video of the construction of the Gates Quad here
