Varsity Baseball v. Deerfield Academy

Fifth-inning rally sparks win for Eaglebrook, 13-7

Eaglebrook notched its third win of the season in convincing fashion against Deerfield on Friday after a nine-run rally in the fifth inning.
The bottom of the first saw Eaglebrook take an early lead, 1-0. Eaglebrook's attack began with a single from Levi Constant. After a walk pushed him to second, Levi then scored on a series of passed balls.

Eaglebrook got one-run boosts in each of the second, third and fourth innings. Jack Denhart, Will Jordan, and Payten Doherty each hit clutch singles, and back-to-back doubles by Dom Cormier and Zach Mooney kept Eaglebrook in the game after falling behind 7-2 in the third inning. The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.

The fifth inning however is when Eaglebrook roared back. Ten singles powered the offense in the inning. Matt Dulmaine had three RBIs, Zach Mooney hit another RBI double, Jake Presnal hit a two-run double, and Payten Doherty, Levi Constant, Jacob Mehl, Sam Born, Dom Cormier, and Will Jordan all singled to give Eaglebrook a 13-7 lead that would hold until the end of the game.

Overall, Eaglebrook pounded Deerfield pitching, as six hitters combined for 11 hits, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored. Greg Sohmer started the game, pitching four solid innings. His composure on the hill helped the team to weather an unnerving 7-run third inning. He walked three and struck out four.

Will Jordan pitched in relief and got it done again en route to his second win of the season. He tossed three innings of shutout ball. Will struck out six, walked one and gave up one hit.
