Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Juniors lacrosse team played its first game of the season, and for many of the players the first game of their careers, on Wilbraham & Monson's excellent turf field. Though the result was an 8-0 defeat, the boys actually played extremely well against a talented and more experienced team.
Yusuf Mukhtar was a star in goal, making ten saves, including several from point blank range. Jack Nagy led the defense, and he was effective as an on-ball defender, and really shined by making multiple outstanding passings to begin fast breaks. Ian O'Connor, Ian Hartwell and Chris Wang also played a considerable amount of time on defense and did well to contain WMA's talented attackmen.
Seth Blain led the way offensively with three shots from his midfield position, while also playing good transition defense. Mavric Crotty, West Lofuff and Alex Rymes also exerted incredible efforts to lead their midfield lines on both ends of the field. Simba Chen, Henry Melnik, Alejandro Espinosa, Andres Pons and Josh Roizen also earned a lot of playing time in their first every lacrosse game, rotating between the midfield and attack.
Despite the scoreline the boys showed noticeable improvement from the first half to the second and they should be proud of their efforts. Thanks to WMA for hosting us and especially for allowing us a couple extra timeouts in the second half when fatigue was setting in with our small roster.
