Varsity Ultimate v. ARMS

On an overcast and gusty Tuessday the team travaled into Amherst to take on the mighty ARMS team. We knew that we would have a game on our hands from having played them and lost to them in our tournament last Sunday. I let the team know pre-game that this is the team that I use to measure our progress over the year. In the end we lost by 11 points and only managed to score four, all in the second half of the game. ARMS’ strategy of marking Brandon was effective but expected. Our other handlers were left to pass laterally amongst themselves but rarely got off passes down the field. When we did attempt them they were frequently knocked down. Defensively we played well, and our cup forces many turnovers. When our cup did get broken, our mids and deeps covered well. Unfortunately for us, the ARMS team did a great job of finding and hitting the one man that we left unguarded. Our assistors for this game were Brandon, Dom, and Daniel Yen. Our scorers were Ellis, Daniel Yen, and Brandon.
I am pleased with the way that this team continued to compete throughout the whole game.
