Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Eaglebrook Varsity Football enjoyed a fun and engaging opening game on Saturday against a terrific opponent in Loomis Chaffee School. For the inexperienced Eagles, the game was a chance to put all of their learning into practice and to try and bring a sense of athleticism and intensity to all of the "x's and o's" that had been taught during the first weeks of school. The game was at first a defensive struggle but gradually both offenses started to find success in picking apart the defenses by taking advantage of the space that was given. At halftime the Eagles were down by two points but a "pick six" on Loomis's first 2nd half drive by the Eaglebrook defense sparked the team and refocused our efforts. By day's end Eaglebrook had earned a victory in their opening game but more importantly had shown strong resilience, focus and determination. Much is to be learned from the many mistakes made on the field but the team has started the season with remarkable enthusiasm and attention to detail. For such a group of absolute beginners to come so far in such a short time.... the coaches are proud and impressed and look forward to the team's continued growth.
