Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On the final day of the season, the Eagles were faced with a formidable challenge as Westminster sent 5 of their JV squad, to supplement their 3rds, so the team knew they were in for a tough day. Hearts and minds were steeled for the battle, as racquets glinted in the summer like sun, and sneakers, pristine in their white, looked like new armor on the day of the final joust of the season. In the opposing ranks were two Eaglebrook alumni, Miguel Castello and Reed Melhado, playing at number 1 and 2 respectively. The Eagles triumphed amazingly 6-1, and showed finally the true potential of this talented squad. Miguel Betances, extended his personal record to 15-1, with a magnificent 3-2 victory including a 14-12 win in the 5th and final game of his Eaglebrook career. Andy Colby won in a canter against Melhado and there were also fine wins in their final games for Cristobal Mendoza, Andres Conesa, David Jung, Bryce Bolotin, and Will Manory. Looking to the future Davis Chase, Johnny Tucker, and Sam Worcester all recorded 3-0 wins and showed that the team is in good hands next year.
The team's record finished at a highly commendable 11-5-1 and it leaves me with one final duty to complete and that is to thank those students who are leaving us this year and have played their hearts and souls out for Eaglebrook Squash: Thank you to Miguel Betances, Andy Colby, Cristobal Mendoza, Andres Conesa, Bryce Bolotin, Will Manory, David Jung, and Kentaro Tanaka. My own personal thanks go to Ryan Tyree for his tireless work and constant desire to help this team get better each and every week. Here's to a glorious spring and a return to the courts next winter with the same attitude and desire as this team has shown so regularly this year.
