Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
A Night of Winter Fun and Shared Life at Eaglebrook
Last night, Winter Wednesday filled the Eaglebrook campus with palpable energy and excitement.
A favorite tradition among students, Winter Wednesday offers both indoor and outdoor activities for the whole Eaglebrook community to enjoy. Last night’s schedule included something for everyone, with night skiing at the Easton Ski Area, marshmallow roasting, hockey at the McFadden Rink at Alfond Area, ping pong, rock climbing, basketball, board games, squash, and more!
At Eaglebrook, colder weather does not slow down life on campus. Unique facilities encourage students to stay active, try new things, and enjoy the outdoors year-round. Demonstrating that students do just that was the crowd at the Easton Ski Area last night. Hitting our groomed trails—made possible by an advanced snowmaking system—is a rare treat that few students get to experience right at school. Excited whoops and laughs filled the air as skiers and snowboarders made their way down the illuminated hill. Some even stopped for a pit stop to assemble s’mores around the fire. For some who arrive at Eaglebrook with years of skiing experience, the trails offer a way to keep their skills sharp. For others, it’s their first time on skis and an opportunity to learn something entirely new. Regardless of their skill level, Winter Wednesday provides an opportunity for all who can safely ski the slopes, faculty included, to take part in the fun.
Inside was just as active. Hockey players packed the ice to practice their shots, scrimmage, and show off their skills. Basketball and squash players faced off in the gym, and ping pong players volleyed. The climbing wall was also open for students to challenge their dexterity. In the Neme Lounge, students watched a soccer game, and in the library, battled it out in Monopoly and Sorry! In the Innovation Lab, students played their favorite games with close friends.
No matter the activity, students enjoyed time with peers and teachers, a reminder of the shared life that lies at the heart of Eaglebrook’s culture. View photos from the night here!
