Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Varsity Soccer at the 42nd Annual New England Junior Soccer Tournament
It was a full day of soccer on Saturday November 7 as Eaglebrook hosted the annual soccer tournament with 16 competing teams. The weather cooperated perfectly and the facilities were in great shape, from the fields to the food tent to the parking lots. A huge thanks goes out to the Athletic Department for organizing the event, but especially to the maintenance, security, and other staff members who made everything work so smoothly.
As defending champions, the Varsity team did not fare as well as they would have hoped, though there were a couple strong performances throughout the day. Eaglebrook advanced undefeated from a difficult group in the morning, consisting of games against Indian Mountain, Hillside, and Foote. Goals scored by Diego Gaxiola (2) and Eugenio Lujambio were enough to qualify Eaglebrook for the A Division in the afternoon. In the afternoon Eaglebrook found itself in another round robin group, this time competing against Cardigan Mountain, Fessenden, and Fenn. It was an extremely difficult group, as those four teams have combined to win the past 12 tournaments. EBS played very well in ties against Cardigan and Fessenden, but unfortunately was unable to beat Fenn and advance to the championship game. Instead, the team's final game was actually against the EBS Varsity B team. It was a lighthearted game with both teams enjoying a stress free end to the competition. Another goal by Diego Gaxiola gave the Varsity A the official victory, though the result was less important than the fact that both teams found a way to have a blast in their last game.
Congratulations are in order for Cardigan Mountain, who came away with the trophy by beating Fay in the championship game. It was a deserved victory for the team that had clearly proven to be the best over the course of the season. We look forward to taking the trophy back in 2016!
