Varsity basketball vs. Pope Francis Prep

On Thursday evening, the Eaglebrook Varsity basketball team made the long trip south to Springfield to face off against the Cardinals from Pope Francis Prep. Having never played the team before, Eaglebrook was not sure what to expect. Both teams struggled to score early in the game, but eventually Eaglebrook settled down and got into a good flow, opening up an 18-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals continued to work hard and managed to put a few runs together during the second quarter, while the Brookies struggled to score. Eaglebrook finally put some possessions together and finished the half on a 4-0 run and entered halftime with a 26-15 lead. Pope Francis took control of the game coming out of the half, running off 12 straight points, but the Eagles responded well to the challenge and finished the quarter with a 10-point run of their own.  Heading into the 4th quarter, Eaglebrook led 38-30. With a victory in sight, the Eagles clamped down on the defensive end, forcing turnovers on 4 straight possessions, and then converting on the other end of the floor, and pushing the lead to as many as 20 points. In the end, the Eagles proved to be too much for the Cardinals, and Eaglebrook walked away with a 58-43 victory, continuing their undefeated run of the season.

Next up for the 9-0 Eagles is a 2:00 game on Saturday versus rival Cardigan Mountain School.
