Mountain Day 2020

In a typical year, the School community spends the day climbing Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire for Mountain Day. Due to the current circumstances, students and teachers did not climb Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire but rather spent the day exploring the miles of wooded acreage of the Eaglebrook campus. The outing gave students a chance to make friends, build camaraderie, learn the trail network, and enjoy a beautiful autumn day. Students were grouped together in small groups, with each group divided by Form. The groups spent the day traveling together to the various stations in the woods.

The Sixth Form participated in an Eaglebrook Odyssey, an epic journey that began with student squads being dropped off on the outskirts of our local forest. Their task was to find their way back to the summit of our Hill while overcoming challenges, completing tasks, and developing a shared identity.

The Fifth Form started the day with a reflective and creative experience, then learned and practiced fire building skills, roasted marshmallows, hiked a series of routes exploring Eaglebrook’s trail network, enjoyed lunch atop the Deerfield Cliffs where they collaborated and built a natural shelter before heading to the Rock, then they made a final descent through ridge-top trails en route back to campus in time for athletic practices.

The Third and Fourth Form also participated in a reflective and creative experience followed by hiking, lunch atop the Deerfield cliffs, collaborative shelter building, onward to the Rock, a descent to S'more roasting.
