Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The team traveled up to Canaan, NH on Friday, January 19 to take on the Cougars of Cardigan Mountain for their second meeting in just over a week. The boys jumped out to a quick lead on the power play, as Jacob Trowt collected the puck behind the net and fed Jordan Nelson out front for a great one-touch goal to put the Eagles up 1-0. The Cougars would soon answer back, scoring a second chance goal, despite the Eagles net becoming dislodged. This goal generated some momentum for the home team, as they soon extended their led to 3-1 after one period of play. The Eagles would regroup in the locker room and understood the importance of limiting the opposition’s second chance opportunities for the next 30 minutes. Despite Cardigan putting home an early goal off of a dump-in, the Eagles quickly turned the page and continued to put forth a strong effort. The Eagles showed solid pressure on the forecheck and saw a couple of quality chances on the power play, but were not able to cut down the lead. Unfortunately, undisciplined play short-handed Eaglebrook for a good portion of the third period, but the boys, led by Jordan Nelson and Jacob Trowt, worked hard to kill the penalties off. The third frame remained scoreless and the Cougars came away with the 4-1 victory. The Eagles should be proud of their efforts; despite going down early, they righted the ship and played a one-goal game for the remaining 30 minutes of play. Seamus Cummings and Bauer Swift exhibited strong defensive play, stepping up into the rush and adding strong physicality throughout the 45 minutes. The boys know they will need to clean things up defensively in order to generate more offensive possession time to put themselves in a better position going forward. It will be a quick turnaround as they welcome a combination of the Providence Jr. Friars and Prospects club to Alfond Arena Saturday evening.
