Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. The Eagles welcomed the Gulf Coast Flames to campus for a double-header on January 13 and January 14. During the first game, Eaglebrook got off to a quick start, exhibiting strong offensive zonetime and unselfish play. These ingredients led to Jordan Nelson notching the first goal, as his line mates Jacob Trowt and Hans Forselius both received assists on the play. Within a few minutes later, Eagles defenseman, Pierce Patterson, unloaded a rocket from the point to the top right corner to make it 2-0. With a minute left of the period, Jacob Trowt capitalized on a second chance opportunity within a scrum on top of the Flames’ crease, which put the Eagles up three tallies after the opening 15 minutes of play. To open the second period, the Flames got a quick strike on the open shift to cut the lead 3-1. However, Ben Scully quickly responded off of a nice feed from Bauer Swift to extend the lead to 4-1. Despite this cushion, the Eagles soon found themselves on the penalty kill for much of the remaining minutes, which allowed the Flames to get back in the game. With 5 minutes remaining in the period, the Flames would showcase a nice end-to-end rush to cut Eaglebrook’s lead in half at 4-2. The home team made sure to finish strong and all collectively worked hard to deter the opposition from mounting a comeback. Seamus Cummings sent a nicely placed slap shot underneath the bar and Trowt also added his second on the day to secure the 6-2 final. Both Ryan Robbins and Jack Bradway showed strong play throughout the game, moving pucks up ice and contributing in ways outside the score sheet. Despite seeing limited shots, AJ Finta had a solid showing in goal to solidify the win as well.
On Sunday morning, the Eagles were faced with a challenge of matching and improving their level of intensity from the prior night. The boys did not disappoint as they again got off to a hot start. Ben Scully displayed some strong net front presence and jammed home a rebound off of a feed from Hans Forselius to put the boys up one early. Pierce Patterson picked up where he left off and sent another laser to the back of the net to extend the lead by 2. The rest of the period was marred by penalties and remained 2-0. In the second period, Nils Forselius showed great determination in tracking down a puck on the lower hash mark and sent a shot toward the net that eventually ricocheted off of some traffic in front to make it 3-0. The Eagles continued to show great possession in the offensive end, as Benito Calvanese carried a puck over the top of the circle and fired a low glove-side shot by the goalie to make it 4-0. Midway through the third, the Flames showed some firepower, scoring two goals. However, the Eagles held down the fort and Seamus Cummings capped off the scoring with a nice 200-foot rush closeout the game 5-2 in favor of the Eagles. Kekua Katz came up with a key breakaway glove save and did a great job of stymieing any hope of a comeback for the Flames throughout the contest. The Eagles would like to thank the Flames organization for making this weekend series possible and wish them success for the rest of their season.
