Releasing Charlie into Whipple Pond

By Mr. Jim Fay, Eaglebrook Science Department
The Eaglebrook Aquarium Club released "Charlie" into Whipple Pond on December 11. The fingerling Brook Trout is the lone survivor from the club's first year of raising Brookies from egg to fingerling. On Wednesday the club will be accepting a new batch of 120 Brook Trout eggs, so Charlie had to move on. In preparation for the release, the water in the aquarium was progressively chilled down to 45*F, which is also the proper temperature for receiving the new eggs. This year's Brook Trout should hatch in the first two weeks of January, once students have returned to campus. Watch a quick clip of Charlie being released into Whipple Pond.
