Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On Saturday, the 5k Cross Country team went to Williston Northampton for the Shaler Invitational to race with JV high school teams. With was a total of twelve schools at the race and 166 runners, Eaglebrook had plenty of a challenge. We had mixed feelings about the new course, as it is all flat around playing fields. Because of the team’s talent in flat running, it ended up playing to our advantage. As we were introduced to our starting position, we weren’t thrilled. Our square was all the way to the left, which meant that if we didn’t get out fast, we would get pinned back. After successful start, every runner found a comfortable pace and went with it. No doubt a quick race, the Eaglebrook runners definitely got some PRs to put under their belts. Henry Hirschfeld came in 4th overall with a time of 18:30. Next was Jackson Elkins in 16th place with a time of 19:28. Evan Miller was 24th place with 19:42. Derek Alvarez came in 31st with 20:05. Jun Jang was 38th with 20:26, and Aran Zecha 65th with 21:22. Overall, it was a very fun and successful day followed by delicious burritos.
