Varsity Water Polo v. Suffield Academy

Varsity Water Polo continued its winning ways by defeating Suffield by one goal for the second time this fall. In the first match-up at Suffield, the group pulled together a great showing, in which many different people contributed on offense with assists and goals, and defense with blocked shots and maintaining inside water. The effort was spectacular, and team was the strength of the day. On Wednesday Suffield visited Eaglebrook, and the game took a decidedly different tone. Eaglebrook started slow, never truly hit their stride, but through determined effort and strong efforts at different times on both ends of the pool, they were able eek out a win in the final minute. This year’s team prides itself on defense, knowing that when they take care of their end of the pool good things will happen on their opponent’s end. Rodney Miller and Varuth Leeswadtrakul put up great efforts on Wednesday, and continue to be the backbone for this group. RJ Finlay and Ernesto Brown are the driving cogs of the offense where they help players newer to the sport keep their heads above water. Nick Faulker, Caleb Friends, Joaquin Angulo, Ballard Brown, Jordan Haney, Doug Braff, Ben Janoschek, Ray Kim, and David Miccoli contributed with goals, assists, and defense on Wednesday and helped lift the team to victory. The win would not have happened if players did not look to support their teammates, distributed the ball, and spread the pool, taking advantage of odd man opportunities when they needed to. A good effort, an excellent win, and a positive momentum-building game that will help going in to this Saturday.
