Varsity B Hockey v. Cardigan

On Saturday, Eaglebrook Varsity B Hockey earned a fantastic win, squeaking out a 1-0 win over a tough Cardigan rival. The rivalry was on display immediately, with hard hitting in both directions. Goaltending was the theme of the game, with Cardigan's keeper playing a superb game between the pipes, keeping Eaglebrook off the scoreboard. Eaglebrook's goaltender was equal to the task, with Remy Levine once again providing a stellar effort. With the game scoreless after the first period, the theme in the second was the unfortunate amount of penalties. Eaglebrook found themselves in the box often but the penalty killers were always prepared and focused and played a disciplined game. The penalties continued on both sides, and in fact several minutes of 3 on 3 hockey resulted. However, the players heard the message and after the string of penalties in the second, the penalties stopped. Eaglebrook got on the board late in the second period when Gus Walsh, while killing a penalty, redirected a shot home through the Cardigan keeper. Eaglebrook continued their offensive prowess into the third period, earning many scoring chances, but the Cardigan keeper kept Eaglebrook's tally at 1. A furious finish to the game was inevitable but Eaglebrook managed to hang on. Eaglebrook clinched third place in the league and will face Rectory in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday at Berkshire School.
