Varsity B Hockey Jamboree
On Saturday morning, Eaglebrook dropped their second match of the tournament against a tough and talented Kuper Academy team. Eaglebrook was on the losing end of a 5-0 decision. Remy Levine once again shined in net, making several spectacular saves, keeping Eaglebrook in the game as long as he could. Unfortunately, Eaglebrook couldn’t muster much offense and didn’t put too much pressure on Kuper’s back line. Eaglebrook looks to earn a victory in its final round-robin game against Upper Canada College.
Eaglebrook earned a 4-1 victory over a small but skilled Upper Canada College team. Eaglebrook came out of the gates flying, scoring 30 seconds into the game. Rodrigo Fonseca converted a rebound of a Gus Walsh shot to put Eaglebrook in front early. Two minutes later, Chuck Goldstein converted another opportunity in close to the net to put Eaglebrook up 2-0. Hamilton Drucker and Lukas Odermatt assisted on the goal. UCC pulled the score to within 1 when they converted an Eaglebrook turnover. Will Shaw put Eaglebrook up 3-1 in the third on a breakaway set up by a feed from Cam O’Connell. Rodrigo Fonseca scored his second goal of the game on a Paddy Wakeham shot which he deflected. Eaglebrook finished the opening round with one win and two losses. Eaglebrook will play Academic St. Louis in the 5th/6th place game on Sunday morning.
Eaglebrook lost a 3-0 decision to Acedmie St. Louis in the 5th/6th place game. Eaglebrook played well, keeping the puck in the ASL end of the rink consistently throughout the game. ASL scored a mere 9 seconds into the game when a strange deflection saw the puck pop high into the air and fall behind Remy Levine. Eaglebrook was able to pin ASL in the zone and buzz around the net. However, Eaglebrook could not muster enough opportunities to convert and pull ahead. ASL scored a second goal late in the first on a penalty shot, and a third goal in the second period. Eaglebrook was hampered by avoidable trips to the penalty box throughout the game. Eaglebrook looks to rebound against the Western Mass Blades on Wednesday night.
