Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Eaglebrook traveled to Groton on Tuesday afternoon to play Fessenden in the first match-up between the two schools in lacrosse the last five years. It was cold, and the rain continued to fall steadily through out the contest. Both sides were confident and played a hard-fought contest through out the 48 minutes of play. Eaglebrook started out the scoring in the first quarter, but Fessenden flexed their muscles by replying quickly with a barrage of goals to establish a commanding lead in the first half. Eaglebrook didn’t allow the deficit to stifle their confidence and committed to working back into the game. Tyler Breen and Thomas Shannon slowly gained advantage on the face offs earning much needed possession and momentum. Gardner Imhoff was a clear leader on the field and came up with some timely, momentum gaining saves to keep Eaglebrook on the offensive. The team’s clearing game was established through effective ball movement and discipline in the transition game. Liam Garrity-Rokous, Joon Yang, and Brian Brown played effective defense against a talented and organized offense from Fessenden.
Eaglebrook’s determination paid off late in the fourth quarter when they earned the lead 10-9. Fessenden did not quit. Earning offensive possession, they were able to convert the tying goal with less than a minute to play. In the sudden death overtime period, each team had possession early. Fessenden was unable to convert and Eaglebrook looked to strike with a quick pass inside and the winning goal coming from Evan Neugold shortly into overtime to earn the victory for Eaglebrook. It was a great contest in which scoring came from many different areas on the field. Trey Camissa tallied three, Derek Pratt earned three, Evan Neugold scored two goals, and Warren Lorenz, Cody Walsh, and Sean Connors earned one goal each. Ealgebrook 11, Fessenden 10.
