Varsity Basketball v. Cardigan Mountain

Friday night the varsity squad played host to the Cardigan Mountain School Cougars in what was our first home game of the season. Eaglebrook got off to a good start, winning the opening tip and converting a Nick Seretta lay-up in transition. Eaglebrook continued to ride Seretta's hot hand offensively in the first half, as he scored all but three of the Eagles 18 first half points. Trailing by one at halftime, Eaglebrook knew they had to come out firing on all cylinders on the defensive end in the second half if they were going to chalk this one up in the win column. The boys rose to the challenge, holding the Cougars scoreless for the first seven minutes and twenty for seconds. Numerous steals by Noah Cisse and Robin Kim led to easy baskets, while Rodney Miller controlled the paint with 12 blocks, and the Eagles jumped out to a nine point lead, 28-19. Cardigan came roaring back, eventually taking a three point lead with 1:54 left in the game. A basket and two free throws by Isaiah Cyprien, followed by two free throws by Lin gave Eaglebrook a three-point lead with 10.4 seconds remaining. Cardigan managed two free throws down the stretch but missed a desperation shot at the buzzer. Eaglebrook's fans stormed the court as time expired, swarming the players after their hard fought 40-39 victory. Next up the Eagles head to New York City for the annual Boys Club Tournament.
