Varsity Hockey v. St. Paul's & Tilton

The Eaglebrook Varsity Hockey team began its regular season with a northern swing, visiting both St. Paul's School and The Tilton School for weekend afternoon tilts.

The boys opened up in Concord New Hampshire against perennial prep school powerhouse St. Paul's. The cool outside air and breeze were only matched by the cool gusts thrust upon the bench as the boys came out flying with only victory on their minds. The game was a hard fought battle from the opening face off to the closing buzzer. The boys came out with a sense of passion and determination. Their hard work paid off in the second period as the boys scored the game’s only goal. An excellent defensive and goaltending effort sealed the door and ensured an opening 1-0 victory.

The team's second day brought new challenges and some team firsts set their sights on a second victory in as many days. The chilly New England winter brought new challenges in the image of a tough and tested Tilton team. Tilton came out strong, scoring early in the first as they ended the period leading Eaglebrook 3-0. Tilton continued to pressure the Brookies in the second period as they scored two more unanswered goals. The intermission gave the boys of Eaglebrook time to come together and galvanize as a unit. They entered the third period determined to fight back against and older, more experienced Tilton squad. The game ended 6-1 in favor of the Tilton Rams, however the boys did not loose sight of their season goals and look forward to successfully continuing their season against some of the NEPSAC’s best.
