Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
“Every school year is its own miracle,” Headmaster Andrew Chase ’73 told the faculty and staff at the opening meetings for the 2015-2016 school year. “We pull together amazing faculty and staff, students, and their parents into one community. We do this so that the students can be set up for the life ahead of them. What we do each year at Eaglebrook School is powerful,” he finished. Opening faculty meetings at Eaglebrook took place September 2, 3, and 4. The meetings prepare every adult on campus for the coming school year; they focus on academics, student life, and athletics.
Before the full faculty meetings this week, the new faculty members met. This group began their meetings the week before when they were given a crash course in all things Eaglebrook. The group also attended a Residential Life conference at Hillside School with Rich Fox, Eaglebrook’s Director of Residential Life and other new faculty members from Junior Boarding schools. The culmination of the new faculty meetings is their hike to the Rock to get a sense of the geography of the valley they now call home.
During the larger opening faculty meetings, everyone on campus was given an update on the progress of the construction of the second phase of the Edward P. Evans Academic Center, which is currently on schedule and exciting to watch. Over the course of this week, departments met, classrooms were set up, the locker room was opened up, dorm rooms were assigned, and buildings were given a special last round of cleaning in anticipation of the special guests, our students, who begin to arrive on Tuesday, September 8. We are all looking forward to the 2015-2016 school year. We are sure it will be another miracle.
