Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The first game of our Home-and-Home series against Cardigan Mountain School proved to be a good one. Tight. In fact, it could not get any tighter as neither team was able to score in a four-minute back and fourth overtime, laden with opportunities for both sides. The game ended in a 6-6 tie, the second of the season.
The Cardigan match up is always a highlight. This year had an added element as I coached against a 2006 Eaglebrook Alum Owen Carpino ’04, a great person and an old friend of Betsy’s and mine. Owen was an accomplished athlete at Eaglebrook and went on to play soccer, hockey and lacrosse Governor’s Academy and then played hockey for Norwich University. This is his third year at Cardigan.
Alan Kim is a strong candidate to be the Rookie of the Year. His amazing athleticisms and willingness to get in front of the ball at point blank range continues to impress all of us on this Thirds team. Although Cardigan hit about four posts, Alan made at least six unreal saves. Miranda and Bolinaga were super charged up, playing against some of their Latino rivals, but unfortunately got a bit too excited and found themselves in the penalty box. Often.
Face off specialist Cochran, Borigio and Banker continue to show excellent gains in skill development and success in this important position. The attack is staring to mesh better and understand the idea of movement off the ball, as Bouchard and Barroso have no problems take chances with risky passes to the likes of Rivera and Fentan.
Needless to say, ground balls, emotional control, midfield defense, and relearning the offensive sets will be on the practice plan agenda for Monday morning’s coaches meeting.
