Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On Friday afternoon of Winter Carnival, the JV Basketball team took on Athol Middle School. Excitement was in the air and the boys were ready to play. We started the game in our full court press giving Athol much trouble and forcing a number of turnovers. We jumped at the opportunity and were able to convert with a few easy baskets. However, Athol never gave up and fought back to within one point and the score read 19-18 at halftime. The boys came out very strong and determined in the third quarter. Smart play coupled with hustle on both ends of the court led to many scoring opportunities. Our change in defense from full court man to a 2-3 zone made it difficult for Athol to get any good looks at the basket. With one minute remaining in the game, Eaglebrook had held Athol to an impressive 3 points in the second half and a final score of 36-23.
