The Varsity Football team traveled to Williston Northampton. It was an overcast drizzly afternoon on the artificial turf under the lights. The Eagles struggled to get off the bus, so to speak, giving up a huge opening kickoff return and subsequent touchdown. However, the team battled back scoring on their first two possessions to take an early lead. The teams traded touchdowns before the half, with a score of 20 to 14 at the break. The Eagles start of the second half with another touchdown to open up the lead on the strength of an improved passing game and strong defense. However, in the fourth quarter the host team scored two touchdowns taking a lead of 28 to 26 with 2 1/2 minutes remaining. It was then that the Eagles truly measured their resolved. They put together a strong sequence on offense mixing inside and outside runs and an effective play action pass. They punched the ball into the end zone with one minute remaining. The defense came out and smothered the final attempts by Williston. Final score was 34 to 28. It was a strong win for the team, who will now prepare for Rectory next Friday.
