Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Students from Cardigan Mountain School traveled down to Eaglebrook for the annual Cardigan Day on October 4. While it happened to be pouring rain, the weather could not dampen the boys’ spirits. If last year's race was any indication, we knew it would likely be another close race this year as well, since Cardigan is always strong and prepared to compete. Ryan P. quickly shot out to the lead and would prove uncatchable on the day. After the boys emerged from the woods at the 1-mile mark, it was Ryan followed by a whole sea of green from Cardigan and we were sure it was going to be a close one. The boys timed their moves well, and were able to pick off enough Cardigan runners on the final two hills to secure for us a very tight 3-point victory. After Ryan came Chance in 4th, Declan in 6th, Finn in 7th, Teddy in 8th, and Tom in 13th. Teddy made a spectacular move down the final stretch passing 3 Cardigan runners and securing our crucial 5th, and final, scoring place. Eaglebrook squeaked out a 26-29 victory and all the coaches were very proud of the sportsmanship displayed by both the runners from Eaglebrook and Cardigan on a day where the conditions were less than ideal.
