Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Eaglebrook & YK Pao School: Building a Relationship
by Richard DeSalvo, Eaglebrook Chinese teacher
Eaglebrook has had a strong relationship with YK Pao School since the opening of YK Pao's secondary school campus outside of Shanghai several years ago. YK Pao's current headmaster Tony Jacacci ’84 is a graduate of Eaglebrook, and Eaglebrook's current Chair of the Math Department, Joe Elias, worked at YK Pao as Head of Residential Life. For the last three years, YK Pao School has hosted Eaglebrook students and faculty for overnight visits as part of our March China trip.
This year for the first time, Eaglebrook is hosting two ninth grade students from YK Pao School for two weeks. They will live in the dorms, participate in afternoon sports, and attend classes while here on campus. The purpose of this immersion experience at Eaglebrook is to create a space for Eaglebrook and YK Pao students to grow together in their understanding of each other's backgrounds and cultures, and to continue to strengthen the relationship between the two schools.
We are now in our fifth day of hosting Jacky Chiba and Greg Teng on campus, and so far it has been a great success. The boys are thrilled to be here, and they even delivered a morning assembly on Chinese Culture on Wednesday. Watch that assembly here. Last night Greg and Jacky participated in Home Night with Mr. DeSalvo and Mr. Fay respectively, and this weekend they will spend a night off campus with a day student, and take a trip to Boston with Ms. Lien. With the spectacular colors of autumn in New England on full display, and Cardigan Day and Mountain Day on the horizon, it is certainly an opportune time to be here on campus.
