The JV baseball team travelled to Mohawk Regional School to play the Warriors on a blustery Tuesday afternoon. The game was as exciting as the spring weather. The Brookies took a one run lead in the top of the first inning, on back-to-back hits by battery mates Matt Gardner and Taro Makihara. The well-coached team from the hill towns came right back to knot the score on a walk and error in the bottom half of the first inning. The Eaglebrook team tried to take back the lead but left two runners in scoring position in the second. Mohawk responded in the bottom half on a walk, a couple of hits and another error. The Brookies could not be held down, scoring the equalizer in the third on hits by team leader Jack O’Neil and another big hit by Taro. The lead seesawed back and forth once again as Mohawk regained the lead on a series of miscues. The JV squad came right back in the fifth to tie up the game. Throughout the game there were fielding gems by Makihara behind the plate, O’Neil at shortstop, Jack Siff at first base, Peter Villani in leftfield and Agasha Raham at third base. Matt Gardner stymied the Mohawk hitters for five innings leaving the game tied 3 to 3. Peter Villani came into pitch the sixth inning, but a couple inaccurate throws allowed the deciding runs, Mohawk 5 Eaglebrook 3.
