Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On Saturday, the Eaglebrook JV Lacrosse team faced off against Rectory in what is traditionally one of our biggest games of the season. Riding a solid win streak and seeing some of our best lacrosse in recent weeks, the Brookies entered the game excited and ready to play. We scored in the first 4 seconds of the game with a faceoff win and fast break goal, and followed up with another goal shortly after. However, Rectory did not give up after our strong start and they fought back, scoring a few goals of their own and tying the game going into halftime. In the second half, the Brookies came out a bit flat and Rectory was able to take the lead, and unfortunately, Eaglebrook was unable to mount enough of a comeback, with the game ending in a tough 6-5 loss. There were moments of brilliance in Saturday’s game, but overall the game was marked by some sloppy, careless play and a few mental lapses from Eaglebrook. Despite the loss, the team learned from their mistakes and understands the importance of the mental side of the game. We will be prepared for the week, with a big game against Deerfield on Monday and the season ending Cardigan game next Saturday.
