Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On Saturday, Eaglebrook dropped a 7-2 decision to a talented Cardigan Mountain squad. Eaglebrook was ready to play the game and came out firing in the first five minutes. Brendan O'Connell nearly put Eaglebrook on top with a one-timer off a beautiful cross-ice feed from Brenden Russ. However, a crucial defensive zone turnover sprang a Cardigan breakaway and a shorthanded goal put Cardigan on top 1-0 early. A second goal followed with a rebound converted. The third goal soon followed with Eaglebrook in the penalty box and a seeing eye shot from the point found its way through. A fourth goal soon followed on an odd-man rush as Cardigan converted a 2 on 1 and Eaglebrook went into the first intermission down 4-0. It was a tough road to climb but Eaglebrook was not ready to call it a day quite yet. Eaglebrook fought the lead to 4-1 when Brenden Russ's slapper found its way home off a one-timer on the power play. However, it was not to be, as Cardigan netted the next three to extend its lead to 7-1 going into the third. Russ's second of the game was of little consolation in the third. Eaglebrook looks to get back on track with a rematch with Belmont Hill next Wednesday.
