Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Eaglebrook Varsity team made the drive down to Suffield Academy to face a Tiger JV squad that has gotten the best of the Eagles over the last few years. Suffield, who record was 1-1, has traditionally been a big and physical team. This year proved to be no different. Each team made a few runs during the first half, but no one was able to forge a lead larger than 3 points. At half time the Eagles held a 2 point lead, 27-25. The second half opened slowly, as neither team was able to get into an offensive rhythm. Eventually the Brookies made a run, and held a 5-point lead (the largest in the game) with about 9 minutes to play in the game. Suffield responded with a six point run, taking the lead with about five and a half minutes remaining. The lead exchanged hands a number of times during the next few minutes, until Kyler Murray ‘12 connected on a back door lay-up from Nick Seretta ’12, giving the Eagles a 41-40 lead with just over a minute to go. The Brookies defense then forced a turnover with 32 seconds left. The Tigers’ defense eventually forced a turnover, giving them one final possession with 11.2 seconds to play. Eaglebrook was able to force a desperation heave at the buzzer that came up short, and held on for their second one-point victory of the season. The Eagles played very well on the defensive end through out the victory, and got big games from Robin Lin ’12, Mark Gravina ’12, and Rodney Miller ’13. Next up for the Brookies will be a tough game against Worcester Academy on January 4th.
