JV Soccer v. Northfield Mount Hermon

JVA’s last game day was a good one spent on the banks of the Connecticut River challenging the Northfield Mount Hermon thirds team. The first half was scoreless with some spirited play. We had excellent opportunities from the forwards and tenacious defense from the backs.

It took only 1:27 into the second half for NMH to find a way to loop a well placed ball, tucked neatly under the crossbar, from a tough angle outside the 18 to put the Brookies on their heels. Eight minutes later, NMH committed a foul that warranted a direct kick from about 25 yards out. This was the opportunity a one Humberto Escalante has been dreaming and practicing for his whole JVA career. He blew a powerful drive through the hands and past the body of a sprawling NMH goalie and across the goal line to effectively bring his team to a high that would carry us back to Mt. Pocumtuck feeling really good about a fantastic season.

What a kind and talented group of players we were blessed to coach this season. Great job, JVA.
