Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Eric Taylor filled us in on what he has been up to since he left the Hill:
"I graduated from Harvard this past year after writing a thesis entitled Popular Inadequacy: A Critique of Capitalist Crisis Theory. In it I focused on how some these days (including some of our foremost in finance) fail to truly understand the meaning of a ‘crisis’, and proposed an alternative lens and a number of metrics through which one might understand and view capitalist crisis.
After graduation I took a trip around the world for a month. I started in Europe, covering London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Madrid, and Ibiza. After Ibiza, prepared with Malaria pills and mosquito repellent I flew to Bangkok, Thailand and commenced a land trip with 5 of my best friends from school down the Thai-Malay Peninsula, stopping in beautiful places with different names like ‘Koh Phi-Phi’. After Thailand, we moved on to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where we stayed a few days and relaxed in what was truly an amazing city. We took an overnight train to Singapore, where we stayed for another few days, after which we all flew home to get prepared for work.
At the moment I’m working at Goldman Sachs in their Distressed Investing group. We invest principally across the capital structure using fundamental analysis. I really love the work, though its quite different in the real world."
