Varsity Soccer v. Berkshire

EAGLES SOARS HIGH OVER THE BERKSHIRES

This was not going to be BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, but more like lunch time at JURASSIC PARK as we saw the imposing size of the Berkshire Bears, as they marched across the sodden turf to start the match this wild, wet, Wednesday afternoon. There was NO WAY OUT of avoiding this physical confrontation and so WHERE EAGLES DARE turned out to be a good move, as the young charges competed for every ball, for every challenge and even though at times the defense was ROCKY; everyone on the team showed TRUE GRIT.

When faced with THE LAND OF THE GIANTS, the aim was to keep the ball on the ground and this is what the young Eagles did, and time after time, they found time and space out wide. The Berkshire Bears, showing panache and a willing desire themselves to be a CONTENDER in this match up, forced the Eagles to did in THE DEEP, to find their heart, soul and competitive steel. However, the game would turn on two moments of individual magic, and it was the dynamic Alberto Barroso who provided THE CUTTING EDGE, with two deft right foot finishes. The team is starting to find its rhythm and against the mighty Cougars of Cardigan Mountain this weekend, we coaches are hoping that they will take this FORTRESS of a defense, marshaled by the returning from injury Nate Falcone, so that on our return, there might be some SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER to help us enjoy the weekend in full.

The last two defeats now completely out of our system, has been good to WITNESS and the development of this group has been akin to having our own A-TEAM and that cannot be a bad thing. My thanks to all those hardy souls who withstood the almost PURPLE RAIN and watched this team develop and become a fully functioning unit and we coaches are grateful for a win, the performance and of course the GOAL II of Alberto!
