Alum Rows at the Henley Royal Regatta

Morgan Weaver ’08, currently a student at Kent, is having a great summer rowing. His crew team was the national champions this year, which allowed them to go to the Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames River in Oxfordshire, England, one of the biggest crew events in the world. Morgan’s father wrote to us the following about the Kent rowing team’s experience at Henley:

“Henley is of course the big event and Kent, being US champions did not have to qualify so they started Wednesday where they beat the King's School, then defeated Shiplake on Thursday. Friday brought on Salisbury and Kent had a very decisive victory, then Saturday we beat St. Joe's Prep, Kent's only loss for the season. This set up Sunday against Eton College. Eton's boat is the best "school boy 8" in history from what everyone was telling me so it set up an epic battle, Kent School, USA versus Eton College, UK all on the 4th of July. Kent had not been the finals since 1972 so it shaped up to be an epic race and it was.” Unfortunately, Morgan’s boat lost to the Eton boat, but we congratulate him and his team on their great effort this year.
