On Saturday, the Eaglebrook Varsity B Hockey team took on a talented and disciplined Shamrock Elites team in the annual Winter Carnival Game. Eaglebrook was on the unfortunate end of a 3-2 decision in a hard-hitting and up-tempo game. It was apparent that the game was going to be a close game from the start. The play was going in both directions, checks were being finished, and saves were being made. The Shamrocks broke the scoreless draw near the end of the first on a bad Eaglebrook turnover, which turned into a Shamrock breakaway. Eaglebrook responded in fine style, however, 62 seconds later. Lukas Odermatt generated a turnover and moved up ice with speed. He moved the puck to Chuck Goldstein who was moving up ice with an equal amount of speed. Goldstein fired a wrist shot low past the Shamrock goaltender. In the second period, the Shamrocks converted a powerplay opportunity to earn their second lead of the game, 2-1. However, shortly after, Zeke Emerson dumped the puck into the offensive zone and Josh Roemer generated an offensive zone turnover, which Cam O'Connell brought out front and converted with authority. Unfortunately, the Shamrocks scored late in the third to pull ahead once again. A furious 5 minutes saw many EBS chances but no goals. Eaglebrook looks to take the ice next against Rectory on Wednesday in a crucial league matchup.
