JV baseball hosted an undefeated squad from Mohawk Regional Middle School on a perfect spring afternoon on Pocumtuck Mt. The Mohawk team entered the fray with a perfect 6-0 record, while the Eaglebrook team looked to even it’s record at 3-3. Amani Core started the game for the Brookies displaying a very accurate fastball, which the opponents had trouble hitting. In the second inning the home team scored on a couple of Mohawk miscues to take a 1-0 lead. This was just the beginning of a closely contested game throughout the afternoon. but Core was definitely the in control of the game, handcuffing the Mohawk hitters. The Brookies picked up 2 more runs again on Mohawk’s poor fielding to take what became a commanding lead, never to relinquish it. Mohawk was not about top quit, scoring 2 runs on Eaglebrook errors. Then in the fifth inning, Eaglebrook broke the game open with timely hitting and running. Mark Cho finished up the game with three outstanding innings demonstrating an overpowering fastball to secure the victory 7-4. Ethan Peterson-New, John Dunham and Nick Kurty lead Eaglebrook at the plate and Kobe Constant made a spectacular diving catch in center field in the seventh inning.
