Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Alumnus James “Jim” Neary ’80 Delivers the 104th Commencement Commencement Address
At Eaglebrook School’s 104th Commencement, alumnus James “Jim” Neary ’80 returned to the Hill to deliver this year’s Commencement address.
A native of nearby Amherst, Massachusetts, Neary reflected on the profound impact Eaglebrook had on his life, sharing how the opportunities he received here helped shape his future and set him on a path toward personal and professional success.
Neary credited Eaglebrook with changing the trajectory of his life and spoke about the foundation the school provided through academics, character development, and lifelong values. After Eaglebrook, he attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Tufts University, Oxford University, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management before building a distinguished career in finance and private equity. Today, he serves as Managing Director and Co-Head of U.S. Private Equity at Warburg Pincus.
A longtime supporter of Eaglebrook and current member of the Board of Trustees, Neary encouraged graduates to embrace opportunity, work hard, and appreciate the people and experiences that help shape their journeys. His return to campus was especially meaningful as his nephew, Billy Neary ’26, was among this year’s graduating class, highlighting the strong generational connections that continue to define the Eaglebrook community.
