Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The 2023 Alumni Reunion Weekend was held June 9-11. This annual event serves as an opportunity for former students to reconnect with their alma mater, relive cherished memories, and forge new bonds with fellow alums. While all Alumni were invited back to Potomac Hill, this year specifically honored alumni from class years ending in three and eight.
As the Brookies approached campus, there was an unmistakable air of excitement and nostalgia. Most noticed the changes to campus since their time, such as the conversion of Baines Hall from a dorm to classrooms and a Health Center; others took time to appreciate the new Evans Center, home of the Eaglebrook Archives and Innovation Lab. The weekend kicked off with a welcome dinner, where the former students gathered to reconnect with fellow classmates, teachers, and staff. See pictures from Friday night here.
Alumni had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions on Saturday, led by Head of School, Andrew Chase ’73, which covered topics ranging from entrepreneurship to innovation. True to its commitment to fostering strong connections, the Alumni Weekend featured a diverse array of activities and events that reminded the alumni of their boyhood traditions, while also featuring the newest additions to Eaglebrook’s campus. The highlight of the weekend was the Candlelight dinner, where students from all classes took the time to give their remarks on how Eaglebrook has impacted their life. “As one candle lights another, so nobleness enkindles nobleness” The sentence shared with students and friends of Eaglebrook during the Candlelighting season was repeated by many in their speeches as a metaphor for the joy and good stewardship that is passed from generation to generation of Eaglebrook student. “It’s been a great experience coming back - reconnecting with old friends and teachers,” said Jonathan Coffy ’18. See the recordings of these speeches here. See pictures from the evening here.
