Celebrating the Year of the Rabbit

The Eaglebrook Community has been holding a special  Lunar New Year Celebration dinner for the last five years. This year honored the Year of the Rabbit. Students ate in a Gibbs Dining Hall fully transformed for the event. Traditional Chinese and Korean lanterns hung from the ceiling while signs in both Mandarin and Korean were displayed from the digital signs.

The evening began with a traditional Korean custom of children bowing to their elders, a role fulfilled by the Head of School, Mr. Chase, and his wife Ms. Blain. Korean students entered the Dining Hall in traditional Korean attire appropriate for the Lunar New Year. Watch the recording of the ceremony here.

Grace was given in both Mandarin and Korean to start the meal. A multi-course dinner of traditional Chinese and Korean dishes followed. During dessert, Students, Staff, and Guests were entertained with a traditional Lion Dance performed by the Imperial Lion Dance Team out of Worcester, Massachusetts. Watch the recording of the performance here.
