Musician David Coffin '75 Kick's Off Eaglebrook's Centennial Hilly Chase Speaker Series
To kick off Eaglebrook’s Centennial Year, the School community welcomed back David Coffin ’75 as the first Hilly Chase performer of the 2021-2022 school year. The Hilly Chase Speaker Series will be made up of alumni only in this 100th year, and David, a long-time musician, was a great start to a fun year of programming.
David specializes in early American music, specifically sea music or chanteys. He lives in Gloucester, MA, and performs all over the country. David took the students on a Nantucket whaling voyage through song, starting with rigging up a ship and finishing with the ship returning to Nantucket laden with whale oil. Watch a clip of his performance here.
David’s performance was a rollicking way to kick off a year of alumni Hilly Chase performances. After the program ended, David sat down with Ollie B. ’22 for the inaugural episode of a new podcast series from Eaglebrook entitled “A View from the Hill.” Listen to the podcast here to learn more about David as a student at Eaglebrook.
