The Math Team Wins Again!
The Eaglebrook Mathematics Team participated in the third annual Deerfield Academy Middle School Mathematics Competition and for the third year in a row, Eaglebrook came home with the first place trophy. Two teams represented Eaglebrook including the OSC Eagles made up of six students including William Situ '19, Marco Ko '19, Peter Ma ’20, Jeffrey Moon '22, Junho Moon '19, and Calvin Moon '21. Evan Khym '20, Conan Chen '20, Kevin Yang '22, Daniel Zhang '20, and Alex Zhong '19 represented the Eaglebrook Brookies team. The OSC Eagles edged out the Eaglebrook Brookies, who finished in second place.
Conan Chen ’20 took home the win in the individual competition. Jeffrey Moon ’22 finished in 2nd place and Peter Ma ’20 rounded out the top three. There were nearly 50 competitors from seven different schools competing. The Deerfield Academy Mathematics Club organized an excellent event with individual rounds in the morning and team competitions in the afternoon. The Deerfield Academy students created the problems, organized the competition, and graded the results.
“Each year we seem to be more and more impressed with their efforts and organization. Our students have not only been successful in the mathematics competition but have learned so much about humility and the effort and responsibility that running such event demands,” said Mr. Elias, Eaglebrook Math Department Chair. He went on to say, “We should be proud of our student's results and even more about how they carried themselves throughout the event and in their humble acceptance of the top awards.”
